Barcelona Journaling Circle: Family Matters

Workshop 1 (Oct. 14) : Roots & Branches: family storytelling (Marusha)

In this memoir/journaling writing workshop, we’ll write about parents, grandparents, siblings, chosen family, old friends, neighbours, and the people whose words and gestures still echo years later. We’ll uncover family traditions, forgotten anecdotes, cherished recipes, childhood rituals, and the legends passed from one generation to the next. 

Writing these stories, sharing them with others and laughing (or tearing up!) listening to them is a way of preserving a living archive before memories fade, and discovering how the lives of others continue to shape our own.

Workshop 2 (Oct. 28): The Masks We Learned to Wear (Oliver)

In this Shadow Journaling workshop, we’ll look at the roles we played growing up: the peacekeeper, the good one, the invisible one, the strong one. The parts we performed to belong, to keep the peace, or to be loved. We’ll explore where those roles came from, what they protected us from, and what it costs to keep wearing them long after they’ve stopped serving us.
