Workshop 1 (Nov. 11): A spoonful of memories (Marusha)

Food is rarely just about eating – it’s about love, identity, belonging, celebration, homesickness, and the moments that become unforgettable.

We’ll write about traditions around family meals, holiday feasts, comfort foods, disastrous recipes, childhood treats, and the people who cooked them and gathered around the table.

Expect a joyful, sensory memoir session that might leave you laughing, nostalgic, and perhaps a little hungry.

Workshop 2 (Nov. 25): Comfort & Discomfort: What We’re Willing to Try (Oliver)

Using food as our way in, we’ll look at our relationship with the unfamiliar: the new dish we wouldn’t touch, the flavour we refused, the meal that pushed us out of our comfort zone. What made us willing, or unwilling, to try something new, and how that same pattern shows up everywhere else we’re asked to grow. Expect a reflective session on discomfort as the doorway, not the obstacle.

About Marusha Mozolevskaya

Marusha is the visionary behind the BJF concept. A passionate journaler and writer herself, she first dreamt of a cozy industry event in Barcelona, which she’s happy to call home, and then – BOOM! – it grew into a festival. Marusha is also the founder of the Girls Who Write platform and the Naked Words journaling circle in Barcelona.

About Oliver Mann

Oliver created Shadow Journaling after feeling frustrated that so much journaling advice never gave the depth he needed. Through studying Jung, Robert Johnson, Debbie Ford, Nathaniel Branden, Kay Adams, and Gloria Kempton, Oliver found a thread that helped him, and later his students, go gently into the shadow, with a light, with support, and the confidence that we will grow.

Shadow Journaling is about listening to the unheard you.
